The beginning of leaving the water and finding homes on land. Organisms such as worms, mollusks and crustaceans ventured forth, moss like plants evolved as the first plants. The climate was volatile, the addition of oxygen from the Cambrian into the atmosphere led to a series of ice ages . There was a large extinction at the end of this time, perhaps caused by the changes in chemical weathering and atmosphere.
