Devonian Era;

The Age of Fishes…490- 354 million years ago

This era was a time for fishes to flourish. Most common was the filter fish, which sieved through microorganisms and detritus from surrounding waters.

Many lived permanently attached to the seafloor and grew mineralized skeletons from the sea nutrients for protection and support. Corals formed reefs that provided habitat for many organisms. Mobile animals were also now abundant with relicts such as snails, starfish and trilobites being found.

Early plants started to colonise the lands, as the development of a cuticle and lignin like material allowed plants the ability to survive out of the water and hold themselves up.

Giclée print - edition of 50 per size.

Medium  630mm x 470mm
