Our New Commercial Project - A Drawing Comes to Life

TWFINEART recently teamed with local artist Gert Geyer when asked by architect Tobias Benz to create a cutting edge artwork for a new residential development in Brisbane. It is a monster (1.5 stories high) and was created using local flora as inspiration. While we can't reveal images of the piece, we can say that we visited the factory today and witnessed how the state of the art piece is being produced. Technology is amazing. Now we have  the opportunity to create one off works like this in sensational detail without the exorbitant prices of the past. Rather than choose off the shelf designs, architects and developers now have the opportunity to commission real work by real artists in a one off manner that gives their design a true signature, and even more importantly brings beautiful art into our streets and dwellings. A little sneak peek at some behind the scenes images: [caption id="attachment_13630" align="aligncenter" width="700"]FullSizeRender copy First Continuous Cut[/caption] [caption id="attachment_13631" align="aligncenter" width="700"]FullSizeRender Polishing the sections before treatment[/caption] [caption id="attachment_13632" align="aligncenter" width="700"]FullSizeRender copy 4 A beautiful pile of aluminum confetti piled up from the vacuums.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_13633" align="aligncenter" width="700"]FullSizeRender copy 2 Gert Geyer standing in between her creation.[/caption]

RECENT COMMERCIAL ART PROJECTS

We have been engaging in some pretty great street/public art projects of late! Just this last weekend we collaborated with Brisbane Riverview Hotel to bring Californian artist Elise Lee to Brisbane. The cutting edge hotel commissioned the moving painting 'The Melody of Coexistence' specifically for the event. The animated artwork exploded like the Big Bang onto the surface of the hotel, expanding and disappearing in explosions of color and form. Like time, the artwork never repeated itself; relentlessly regenerating in new expanses & combinations of form and color. Artist Elise Lee strives to mediate between the personal experiences of joy and happiness, from the real to the unreal, remaining open to the perpetual re-assignment of either state. The circular shape of bright colors and playful movements are an invitation to party in the artist’s personal vocabulary. The repetition of singular shapes creates a visual complexity, while continuously adding layers of color and shape to ultimately create a harmony akin to music. Greg Henderson documented the event for us and produced these stunning images! _DH_2275   IMG_1020   _DH_2286
For the James Street RESORT event, we collaborated with James Street and artist Briony Barr to create a RESORT themed artwork to light up the facade of the Scanlan Theodore store on James St. The kitsch artwork focused on the growth patterns of crystal trees. Never one to take life or art two seriously, Barr's animated installation lit up the street and provided a beautiful focal point for the Up Late shoppers! photo 2 copy

What's Happening @ TWFA in December

VIEW HOTEL PROJECTION TWFINEART has collaborated with artist Elise Lee and VIEW HOTEL to bring Brisbane into the cultural limelight.  The state of the art project will transform the exterior of the Brisbane Riverview Hotel, facing Kingsford Smith Drive, for the nights of Friday 5th December and Saturday 6th December 2014, into a beacon of dynamic light, illuminating the facade with a moving artwork that would capture the attention of any person driving or walking by the hotel.  Lee’s work is a derivative of Pop Art and draws inspiration from artists like Takashi Murakami to create bright, oscillating, stylized shapes that dance across surfaces, emerging and disappearing in explosions of color and form.
