TWFINEART + Greg MacLaughlin + Tretford

Absolutely psyched to be working on a series of rugs made in collaboration with our artist Greg MacLaughlin and the Gibbon Group. Tretford rugs epitomize all that is cool in the custom rug world. Created using the finest quality goats hair, the color texture and weave of the material is absolutely stunning, lending itself toward sharp geometric designs. Greg MacLaughlin's sharp eye for simplicity and design has paired perfectly with the brand and we are very excited to be offering this cutting edge product to the market place. Launching in April, the rugs will be available in a range of color palettes and combinations, meaning that the designs can be tailored to suit your style and decor. It's an interior designers paradise and we cannot wait to see them on your floors!! This is just one of 5 designs coming soon! Screen Shot 2015-02-12 at 10.23.46 AM

Always keeping it fresh! This week we added exclusive new limited edition prints by New Yorker Ed Granger and Israeli artist Keren Paz. Ed's limited edition abstract prints confuses the senses. What's Happening @ TWFA in December

VIEW HOTEL PROJECTION TWFINEART has collaborated with artist Elise Lee and VIEW HOTEL to bring Brisbane into the cultural limelight.  The state of the art project will transform the exterior of the Brisbane Riverview Hotel, facing Kingsford Smith Drive, for the nights of Friday 5th December and Saturday 6th December 2014, into a beacon of dynamic light, illuminating the facade with a moving artwork that would capture the attention of any person driving or walking by the hotel.  Lee’s work is a derivative of Pop Art and draws inspiration from artists like Takashi Murakami to create bright, oscillating, stylized shapes that dance across surfaces, emerging and disappearing in explosions of color and form. CHASING TAIL: The TWFINEART Gallery will feature the moving paintings of US artist Matt Sheridan in an exhibition titled CHASING TAIL. Sheridan's artwork will be projected through the gallery and complimented by a range of limited edition prints and stills from the animation. CHASING-TAIL-GENERAL-INVITE

INSIDE THE STUDIO : Jermey Gilbert-Rolfe

In line with our mission to make great art more accessible, we are taking you inside the studios of our artists - featuring one artist per month in this special behind the scenes look into their practice. A huge part of our mission is to demystify the art world by making it more transparent and inviting. While a work of art might appeal to you on an aesthetic level, that appreciation can be deepened with an understanding of the artist and their process. We want you to have a connection to your favorite work and the artist that created it. This month we are featuring the studio of artist, writer and academic Jeremy Gilbert-Rolfe. To read a great interview with the artist, check out BOMB Magazine by David Shapiro. He was awarded National Endowment for the Arts fellowships in painting and criticism as well as a Guggenheim fellowship in painting, and was presented the 1998 Frank Jewett Mather Award for Art Criticism by the College Art Association. His visual work is included in prestigious public collections, including the Albright-Knox Gallery of Art, The J. NEW PRINTS by EMILY SILVER

This week we have added a selection of very recent work by Californian artist Emily Silver.

We All Want to Know, 2014. Art by Emily Silver I Want To, 2014. Art by Emily Silver Emily throws tradition out of the window, approaching her drawings as extensions of her sculptural work. Surfaces are built with an eclectic mix of sculptural materials in addition to paint & pencil. The results are innovative and exciting. As subject matter she looks to funerals, parties, parades and carnivals, using iconography, materials and colors associated with these events to create her artwork. On a conceptual level Emily's work examines the space between the celebratory and the tragedy. Often comedy is used through the incorporation of a written 'punch line'. While crude, funny or devastating, Silver uses comedy to make a poignant comment on the resilience of the human spirit and the role of ritual in our lives. Visit EMILY SILVER to see the full portfolio of work. Prints start at $85.00 AUD.
